MAReA and Bioarchaeological Research.
Exploring the ancient Mediterranean
across time and space

MAReA (Mediterranean bioArchaeological Research Advances) is an inter-university laboratory operating through the collaboration of the Sapienza University of Rome (Rome) and the University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli" (Caserta).

Our research activities focus on the interaction between past societies and the environment, via the application of biomolecular techniques. We have a variety of research interests that span chronologically and geographically, focusing on the Mediterranean as a pivotal region to understand ancient biological and cultural dynamics.
